Big XII Champion 2009: Oklahoma

Arlington, TX--The 2009 Big XII Championship game was not all it was hyped up to be. Many felt the Cornhuskers would get revenge on the Sooners for giving the Huskers their only loss in the regular season. It was not to be.Nebraska took the early lead on a 47 yard field goal by Nebraska's Henery. The Sooners then followed up with the next six scores and grew a 34-3 lead entering the fourth quarter. Nebraska managed a 40 yard TD pass from Zac Lee to wide receiver N. Paul early in the fourth then managed to give up another Sooner score, a one yard TD dive to DeMarco Murray, to make the final score 41-10. Quarterback Landry Jones was the Oklahoma Player of the Game after going 29-37 for 324 yards and 3 touchdowns and no interceptions. This marks the 7th Big XII Championship for the Sooners since the 2000 season and the fourth in a row ('00, '02, '04, '06, '07, '08, '09). The Sooners will move on to face West Virginia in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on January 3rd, 2010. The game will be a rematch of the 2007 version of the Fiesta Bowl when the Mountaineers beat the Sooners in an upset, 48-28, led by quarterback Pat White and running back Noel Devine (now a Senior on the WVU team).
