The Sooners announced today the commitment of three new recruits for the 2011 class. They are: Ryan Jacques (OLB #15, Altadena CA, 6'3", 256lbs), Steven Porter (MLB #4, Andrews TX, 6'1", 231lbs) and Brett Phillips (WR #9, Ormond Beach FL, 5'11", 160lbs). All three are expected to redshirt their first season on campus barring any unexpected transfers, early entry draft announcements or injuries. Some speculate that Porter could see playing time as a true frosh but with the MLB class OU pulled in last year, it's expected he'll take a year to redshirt, learn the defense and get ready to contribute in 2012.
