Recruiting Update #3

Norman, OK--Now that the season is nearing an end, recruiting is heating up. The high school studs of America have had time to be treated like royalty and have been flown across the country in recruiting trips as they decide which school will be so lucky to earn their signature on Signing Day 2011. The Oklahoma Sooners have earned a few more hard commitments from some of those high school all-stars. They are:

--5* RB Anton Richardson, 6'1", 205lbs, Leon Valley H.S., Leon Valley, TX, #3 RB Overall, #11 player overall. Richardson is expected to redshirt but could play as a true frosh if incumbant starter Jermie Calhoun doesn't return for his Junior (RS) season. OU fought with Texas and Texas A&M for Richardson's services.

--3* TE Chris Reid, 6'5", 230lbs, Athen H.S., Athen, TX, #27 TE, #473 player overall. Reid is expected to redshirt as a frosh since he'll have super stud TE Ethan Reese (current sophomore) and James Hanna (current sophomore) ahead of him. OU fought Penn St. for Reid's commitment.

--3* WR John Atkins, 6'6", 193lbs, Progress H.S., Progress, PA, #23 WR, #286 player overall. Atkins was recruited by Oklahoma for his excellent height and knack for making the amazing catches. He isn't a "fast" receiver but the Sooner coaching staff didn't bring him in to be a burner. The Sooners gained Atkins' commitment over a very aggressive Ole Miss coaching staff.

--3* WR Eric Simmons, 6'2", 190lbs, Applewood East H.S., Applewood, CO, #65 WR, #727 player overall. Simmons was brought to OU for his stability, his great attitude and his openess to sit and learn as he matures into a starting college wideout. He's not known to be "amazing" in any one category but is more of a "pretty darn good" in all things. OU was Simmons' only major scholarship offer from BCS schools.
