Sooner Recruiting Round Up, Post #3

The Sooners landed another hard committment today, this time from Lisle, IL running back Ryan Charles. Charles, is rated as the 50th best running back overall in the nation by EA Sports' recruiting service. Charles was sought after by the Sooners due to the departure this fall of senior Chris Brown and the expected departure to the NFL for junior DeMarco Murray. Charles' only offer at this point was from OU but his high school coaches reported more interest in the past few weeks from Iowa, Tennessee, Cal and others. Charles is expected to redshirt in 2010 then battle for playing time in 2011 with expected starter Jermie Calhoun ('09 FrRS) and current redshirting freshman Jonathan Miller. The Sooners cannot comment officially on Charles nor any other committment until they have signed their letter of intent in February but sources say the coaching staff love his speed (A-) and how he carries the ball. He's known in the Illinois high school ranks as one of the most agile backs in the state as well as being a very "jukey" player with great acceleration. The Sooner Nation welcomes Ryan Charles to the family...Boomer!!
