Sooner Recruiting Round Up, Post #4
It was confirmed this week that Sandusky, OH linebacker (MLB) Derek Triplett gave his verbal pledge to play for the Oklahoma Sooners starting in 2010. Triplett (6'0", 231) chose the Sooners over an offer from LSU and also had his sights on Indiana, Ohio State, Tennessee and Michigan, among others. EA Sports' recruiting service has him rated as the 19th best middle linebacker in the nation. Triplett's commitments helps fill one of the holes the Sooners will have in 2010 due to the loss of Ryan Reynolds and Mike Balogun, both seniors this season. It is expected current sophomore Austin Box will assume the first starting slot at MLB but the second starting position looks to be open for the time being. Oklahoma coaches aren't allowed to comment on recruits until they sign their National Letter of Intent in February but sources inside the Sooner team say the coaches like Triplett's speed (B-), his great ability to wrap up and make the tackle (B) and the power he brings to those tackles (B). He's also known for great agility. Welcome to the Sooner family Derek!
