Sooner Recruiting Round Up, Post #1

Through Week 4:

  1. 5* (Bonus) QB1 Jordan Thomas (Pocket Passer), Alvin TX, 6'2" 207lb (#10OVR)--Thomas joins a Sooner team with lots of talent at the quarterback position. 2008 Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford (Jr.) is still around and could be back for his senior season if Coach JHeb can talk him into coming back one more time rather than leaving early for the NFL Draft. If Bradford stays, Thomas will definitely redshirt. If Bradford leaves, Thomas will battle with Landry Jones and Drew Allen for the starting position. Thomas is not guaranteed a starting slot and knows he will have to battle to get on Owen Field with the Sooners.
  2. 5* CB5 Brett Dixon (Balanced), Ennis TX, 6'2" 181lb (#25OVR)--Dixon comes to the Sooners and should see playing time his freshman season. The Sooners lose senior Brian Jackson and will likely lose junior Dom Franks to the NFL Draft. That will leave OU with then senior Jonathan Nelson and the trio of corner's they signed in their last two recruiting classes (L. Harris, D. Hurst, G. Lynn).
  3. 4* TE2 Ethan Reese (Balanced), Clayton MO, 6'3" 239lb (#52OVR)--OU loses senior tight ends Jermain Gresham and Brody Eldridge for the 2010 season and will lost Eric Mensik after the '10 season, so adding TE's now is a priority for the Sooners. Reese is part of that plan. He likely will take a redshirt then be in the hunt to start for the Sooners in 2011.
  4. 3* DE43 Austin Davis (Pass Rusher), St. Ann MO, 6'2" 270lb (#732 OVR)--Davis comes to the Sooners about as raw as a kid will ever be when they step on campus. Davis mainly be expected to provide depth for the team and be ready in case upper classmen get hurt. Davis will have highly touted players in front of him for most of his career at Oklahoma, including Frank Alexander, RJ Washington and Justin Chaisson. Not to mention current junior Jeremy Beal and sophomore David King (redshirting 2009).
